Other Operations
The McIntyre family have guided the company through many business challenges throughout the 45 years since foundation. In that time the operation diversified in areas such as exporting tractors and agri spares to USA, filling and distributing bottled gas as Flogas agents, distributing Berger paints, selling Johnston outboard engines and Darragh Boats among others.
Today the company has a core of operations;
- Motor trade operations.
- BuyLo- The Irish Discounter.
- Topaz and Costcutter forecourt.

The McIntyre family acquired the franchise to operate a BuyLo store from The Barry Group of Mallow in 2009 and successfully opened the first franchised BuyLo outlet in August 2010.
BuyLo is housed in a 13000 the sq. ft. retail unit on our site located alongside the Hyundai showroom.
BuyLo is the Irish Discount store and offers a warehouse style shopping experience similar to Walmart in the USA or Costco in the UK . BuyLo stock branded goods such as household groceries, everyday cleaning products, hardware, gardening and general merchandise all at greatly reduced prices. The new operation has proved to be a successful format and currently there are 7 BuyLo stores nationwide with plans a national roll out.

Westmeath Motors, over the years was famous for its Shell forecourt and indeed in “our history” you will see photos of Ray and Marcella receiving many awards for the best forecourt in the country as winners of the Shell Shine Safety awards, as they were known then.
Today of course Shell is known as Topaz after they bought out the Shell operations in Ireland in 2007. Westmeath Motor Group still own and manage their forecourt with the addition of a Costcutter store in 2010 and we still maintain the very high standards that we were known for in those early years.
